Lets make a text logo and I really want to use the logo I made a while back, but I realize that’s not for everybody….So lets make a logo out of freeware fonts, and find a font suitable for what I want. I want to make a 3d version of mck and because I know how difficult it is to create round corners (“c”) I am looking for a bold/stong blocky font. We could make a complete text logo, but when I started writing this tutorial I found out that with more then one letter, it started to be quite complex. Which is not bad, but quite difficult to point out how things work. So lets search a nice letter with a nice “M” or “m” (or whatever letter you want).įor example a couple of font of /:Ĭowboys – big/strong and very little curvesĪerojones nf – big / strong and round cournersīut make this tutorial even easier I have chosen for a pixel-font from 04.jp.org named 04b-19.ĭownload the font(s) you want to use, and copy it in: So for this tutorial I will explain just one letter and we will make it 3d.Įxcept the programs discussed above ( Pepakura designer v2.1.2, Google SketchUp 6 and PDFCreator) you also have to choose a nice font to create your initial/character in.

Update #2: when I tried to import the PDF into illustrator, I noticed that the PDF wasn’t a vector file. Luckily there is a solution: change the default print mode to Vector Print (see point 3a.) 1. Oke lets see what Pepakura does with this simple example: press “unfold’ Open the character.kmz file you just saved on you’re hard drive If you’ve done what I asked, you have Pepakura installed (and if not, now is the time). jadajada, you know what to do: Press file – print Make sure that you change the default print setting, this will improve the quality of your print and makes it possible to import in Illustrator. Grab you’re glue and scissors and start building. (Perhaps Inkscape will work too, but I don’t have that installed) This is for people who want to “export” the papermodel/papercraft to a file and modify it in a vector program like Illustrator. Instead of printing the model to paper, you can print it to. And this file is easy to import in Illustrator. The only thing that you have to do is install: PDFCreator. This program is opensource (doesn’t cost anything) and works the same as your printer. Instead of printing to a printer, which is connected to you computer or network, you print to PDFCreator. And this will create a PDF for you on you’re computer.Pepakura is a handy tool to add to your cosplay arsenal.

I’ve used Pepakura in quite a few builds, like my Kaijudo Gauntlet Trophies, DotA 2 Juggernaut Mask, Constant C Helmet, and Skyrim Draugr Deathlords cosplays.

Here are some reasons why Pepakura is so helpful for cosplay: It’s free to view and print files in Pepakura Viewer. I really would like to solve the problem, but if things don't go anywhere, I'll change to Google. Now it’s time to create design based on Metasequoia, the templates for the papercraft model from Pepakura. Although I could change the flaps' color! But I won't use them.:cry:Īny comments? Please, not the "throw Blender away and do it all in Google Sketchup". I select the parts, change the filling color, and nothing happens. I did try to color the SVG files that the script generates, but for some unknown reason, I couldn't do it in Inkscape. As I said before, I use Blender 2.65, and this is the best script I've found to unfold a paper model in Blender, but without the colors and textures. When I say "color", I mean that the parts come filled with black, and no other color whatsoever (forget about textures). Yes, I know that you have to uncheck the "Pure Net", and I did, but all I've got was separate files, one for the "color", and the other for the net:curse.

My problem is, after exporting the paper model, all I get is plain black-and-white, uncolored templates.

I really think that it worked fine so far, considering that no software can do what humans do (yet). I was able to import my model to Google Sketchup and make it a bit "rounder":thumb:, but I would like to go back to the Export Paper Model script for Blender.
